20×24 Painting with Cows
Although this was not a vintage painting, it’s owner loved this piece on a wooden panel that had been cut in half. The crackling was desired because it gave the art a vintage appearance. Because this painting was on a panel we first had to join it back together by gluing it onto a second panel and clamping it with additional weight in order to make the next step as straightforward as possible.
But the original cut had seriously destabilized and chipped the paint along the edges, so there was considerable filling and in-painting that needed to be performed in order to make repair as “seamless” as possible.
The result was stunning and the owner was so thrilled that she decided to pick a new frame to finish it off.
