Hyun Bo Yoo was born in Seoul, South Korea on May 12, 1946. At the age of eleven he was already impressing his parents, classmates, and teachers with his ability to draw and paint. When he entered college, he had intended to become a national actor or dancer, but his deep desire for painting overshadowed this dream. When Yoo completed college, he painted for several galleries in Seoul and finally decided to open his own gallery and studio. For ten years he did business in his gallery and also trained other artists. He also received a special National Award given to him by the president of Korea. In February of 1977, Yoo decided to come to the United States and live with his sister and brother-in-law. He enjoyed great success in the United Staes until his death in 2010. Combining soft colors and a dry brush technique, Yoo’s serene landscapes evoke feelings of tranquility and harmony. Galleries across the country represent his work.
