About this artist

Kathleen Reilley, a native Californian, has been a serigraph artist for over 20 years, printmaking on paper, fabrics, and tile. Kathleen’s work often reflects faraway places of time and of her travels. She recently discovered encaustics while attending an art workshop in Santa Fe and became intrigued by this medium. Encaustic painting dates back to Greece, 100 BC. The technique consists of a combination of beeswax, pigment and a resin-base. It must be heated before application because each layer of paint is fused with heat to the layer beneath. This medium lends itself to boundless ways of application, and Reilly maintains a sophisticated feel with the simplicity of her works.
