The Artwork of Max Papart (1911-1994) is suffused with the sunny humor and bright colors of the French Riviera, where he was born in 1911. Working in a Cubist style, the artist depicts circus figures, couples, soaring birds, and other cheerful subjects with flat, overlapping planes of contrasting colors and textures. A master print maker who focused on form and structure, he is considered one of the most important second generation cubists of the 20th century.
