About William Blackman:
William Henry Blackman was born in 1930 in San Diego, CA. He started painting when he was 12 years old. Blackman studied advertising and graphic arts at Woodbury College. Directly following college, he served one tour of duty in the Navy. He moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1960 where he worked as an advertising manager for many years. By 1965, Blackman had abandoned commercial work to concentrate on painting. Seascapes became his favorite, perhaps influenced by his time in the Navy.
