About Vern Broe
Traditional marine artist Vern Broe was born in Western Springs, Illinois on July 18, 1930. He studied at the American Academy of Art, the University of Illinois, Chicago’s Institute of Design and the San Francisco Art Institute. Broe moved to Maine where he lived and painted until his passing in 2011.
His artwork has appeared in the American Artist, and other magazines, including three covers for Yankee Magazine. Over the past several years, Broe has become one of the most noted marine artists in the Northeast, having painted scenes of Maine and Massachusetts.
