About William Arden

William Arden was born in New York in 1961. His involvement in the arts as a child directly influenced his aesthetic development. At age 17, Arden decided to utilize his talent and pursue a career in the graphic arts, working mainly for the recording industry. It was not until 1996 that the pen name William Arden was chosen to represent Magner as an artist. Arden’s seemingly random collection of lines shapes and planes are carefully and painstakingly placed in order to create a balanced canvas. Every object within each painting is subjectively connected to each other, maintaining the flow and clarity of the paintings despite their abstract nature.

Most recently, Arden’s works have begun to incorporate collage and mixed-media. Arden builds on the examples handed down by the masters of modern art and collage, combining different styles of painting in order to create something new and exciting. The viewer is reminded of works by Matisse and Picasso, but is also drawn in by Arden’s personal style and the emotion he adds to his paintings. Arden’s appeal is vast, due mainly to his new take on a well known aesthetic. Familiarity with his style and subject matter immediately attract a wide array of audiences, but it is Arden’s innovative decision-making and deviations from the norm that keep viewers captivated by his paintings.
