About Robert Williams:
Robert Williams was raised on the Island of Catalina in California. He studied at the Chouinard Art Institute and later became a major artist for scenic art for Hollywood Studios like MGM and Universal. His work can be seen in films like Logan’s Run and King Kong. His work in those films were so notorious that he later helped with the creation of major television sets like Mac Davis, Dean Martin, and Johnny Carson. He would even get commissioned by Walt Disney Studios for the scenery of attractions, like Mr. Toad, Peter Pan, and Pinocchio.
Williams’ art can be best described as modern day impressionism, which is mainly shown through his use of visualizing life and movement. He uses the impasto technique to emphasize the light and color in the scenery of his artwork. His heavy abundance of sand, water, and the sky further help utilize his techniques of impressionism in a way that remains subtle, making his work appear to be more realistic to the naked eye.
