About Megumi Akiyama
Megumi Akiyama was born in Kawasaki, Japan, received her BFA from California State, and currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona. She began her career as an illustrator for children’s books, but has since expanded her talents to include contemporary abstract paintings.
She cites a number of aspects of her childhood that has influenced her work; such as traditional summer festivals, elaborate kimonos, and fireworks displays. The desert of her current home is also a source of inspiration for her work.
