Born in Bejing, China, Ken Lawrence became very interested in Western Art due to spending his early years in the Chinese Cultural Revolution. This interest would lead him to attend the University of Guang Zhou to study fine art, leading to formal training in Chinese watercolor landscapes and European impressionism techniques. Later on, around the time of the Tiananmen Square massacre, Lawrence would go on to seek a professional career as an artist.
He drew upon his knowledge and passion of American art history and began Hudson River and American impressionism inspired landscapes. Because of his past 15 years of success, his work has been sold in multiple galleries across the U.S. and lives in New York, although he does travel back to China to visit his family.
