About John Douglas:
John Douglas was born in Kansas and has spent nearly all of his life in the American Southwest. He studied painting, drawing and other artistic media at Arizona State University on an art scholarship as well as some coursework in California. Douglas’s first creative influences stemmed from his interactions with the diversity in the landscape of the American Southwest. The artist’s passion for travel has taken him around the globe and back. Thailand, Florence, Vienna, Prague and the Amalfi Coast are noted favorites of the artist. Douglas shared he has made countless trips to the Met in New York and the Tate in London, for which he “has incredible admiration and which he forever finds amazingly poignant”. Douglas has drawn inspiration from modern artists such as Francis Bacon and Salvador Dali.
