About Frederick Mortimer Lamb 1861-1936:
Frederick Mortimer Lamb (also known as F. Mortimer Lamb) was born on May 5th, 1861 in Middleboro, MA. He started his career in art early in his life when he started studying at the Boston Normal Art School, the first school of its kind in America because of the Massachusetts Drawing Act. He would also study at the Julien Academy in Paris & be in affiliation with the American Federation of Arts, the Boston Society of Water Color Painters, & the Boston Art Club.
Later on, Mortimer Lamb would be awarded for his “Our New England” piece at the Panama Pacific International Exhibition in San Francisco with a silver medal. Another major achievement of Lamb’s was his “The End of the Trail” life size painting being accepted into the 1893 Chicago’s World Fair, the only picture accepted by the Boston Jury with an animal being depicted. His works Lamb was a master of versatility when it came to his utilization of oil, pastel, & watercolor.
