Bed in For Peace is a rare limited edition silkscreen serigraph print by the famous Beatles musician and artist John Lennon. This commemorative print is based on John & Yoko Ono’s “Bed In” that was reported to have taken place in 1969 at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel as an appeal for world peace at the height of the Vietnam War. It’s a great collectors item and would make a great gift for any Beatles fan.
About John Lennon
Most notably a founder of the iconic rock group The Beatles, John Lennon (1940-1980) was also a successful solo recording artist, author, graphic artist, and collaborator with his second wife, Yoko Ono. At 16 he started a band with his friend Paul McCartney that evolved into The Beatles, becoming rock and roll rebel icons and arguably the most important musical group of the late 20th century. Culturally, Lennon was a candid provocateur and after a failed marriage and divorce at 28, he married Yoko Ono, an unconventional artist and partner.
Lennon was not only a musical legend; his genius came through in his writing and visual arts, the only fields in which he had received formal training. With his natural gifts, he proved to be a casual humorist and cartoonist. The music and art made after meeting Ono reflects their belief in art without any pretense, yet with declarative purpose. Their marriage projected many powerful images alongside their activism. Lennon was shot to death on December 8, 1980 by a deranged fan in front of his Manhattan apartment building. He lives on in his music and art.
