About Allison Stewart:
Allison Steward originally studied biology at Spring Hill College for undergraduate. She later decided to enter a graduate program in studio art at the University of New Orleans. Stewart’s background in biology has heavily influenced her artistic endeavors from the start. Stewart says her paintings are visual diaries upon which her responses to our threatened landscape are illuminated. She has exhibited throughout the United States. Stewart has received awards, fellowships and grants from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, the Endowment for the Humanities, and the Mary Freeman Wisdom Foundation, and artist-in-residence with Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado. Along with her husband, artist Campbell Hutchinson, Stewart founded KID smART in 1998, a Louisiana non-profit arts organization that brings the visual and performing arts as teaching tools to under-resourced children in the public schools of New Orleans.
