About Secret Watch by Stephen Lyman:

This print of a lynx camouflaged amongst some rocks illustrates the quiet and elusive nature of these animals. With their large paws, they prey solely upon the snowshoe hare.

Stephen Lyman was a magnificent wilderness and wildlife painter and explorer who communicated his love for nature through painting. He is famous for his detailed animal portraits as well as his “campfire scenes”, in which he paints the glowing embers of a fire contrasted with the dark wilderness. He died tragically while hiking in Yosemite National Park, which was his favorite place to paint.

Stephen Lyman Biography
Born in Idaho, Stephen Lyman (1957-1996) was a magnificent wilderness and wildlife painter who’s love for the outdoors was nurtured while growing up in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.
Lyman had a natural artistic talent and began his professional career as an illustrator in Los Angeles after attending art and design school in Pasadena California. However, a true explorer who was inspired in part naturalist and writer John Muir, the artist decided to return back to the Northwest. He began to communicate his love for nature with art and spent his time hiking, exploring and meticulously researching the subjects for each of his paintings.
Lyman’s  artwork was fist published in print form in 1983 and he soon grew into one of the most popular artists in America whose work sold in hundreds of galleries. In 1995 he published his first book “Into the Wilderness – An Artist’s Journey sold over 50,000 copies.
In 1996 Stephen Lyman died tragically while hiking and doing research for his painting in the Cathedral Rocks area of Yosemite National Park.
