Willi Kissmer was born in Duisburg, Germany in 1951 and attended University in Essen. He started his arts career as a musician and produced three rock albums. He quit the music business in 1980 to focus on visual arts where he excelled at rendering fabric. He taught printmaking at his alma mater throughout the 1980s and displayed his work in numerous exhibitions all over the world until his death in his hometown in 2018.
