David T. Kessler paints highly realized landscapes on aluminum. He started when he rose in the mid-1970s in California as a photo-realist painter, where he would use flaws found in other images & make them into intentional movements. These observations show Kessler’s focus on abstraction, illusion, & realism found in his work. Kessler later focused more so on realistic nature scenes, primarily from the mountain streams & pools of Arizona. By the 1990s he experimented by painting abstract dashes of color on plexiglass & aluminum while rough-brushing the surfaces to create realistic reflections & lighting.
