Joseph Holston is well known for his contemporary figurative painting. In most of his work he either incorporates musical elements directly, or he is able to suggest a musical element through the delicate movement of his figures. At times he uses bright color, and other times he composes very subtle black and white etchings. The constant, however, in all of his work is the ability to create expression and feeling.
