About Jean-Michel Folon
Born in 1934 in Brussels, Belgium, Folon became a desired artist first in the U.S. and then in Europe around the 1970s. Folon produced works in a multitude of mediums including watercolor, etching, silkscreen, illustrations, mosaics, and stained glass. Folon has been displayed in many international museums, such as Museo Cantonale d’Arte in Switzerland, Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. His illustrations can be seen in books by authors like Franz Kafka, Ray Bradbury, Jorge Luis Borges and he designed posters for humanitarian causes as well as theater, opera and cinema. Folon lived in Paris, France for 30 years before moving to Monaco where he lived the remainder of his days until his death in 2005. The year before his death he was made a UNICEF ambassador.
