About this artist

Marilyn Fairman is a plein air artist painting in the impressionist style with a focus on capturing “That special light which speaks of a time of day that will quickly pass.” American Artist Magazine Editor-in-Chief M. Stephen Doherty describes and quotes Marilyn’s painting style and strategy in his article “Taking Advantage of Plein Air Events.” Marilyn has a Masters Degree in Studio Arts and a BFA in Painting. Her works are in the collections of the NY State Schoharie Crossing Historic Site, and the State University of New York at New Paltz Alumni Association. She is a Signature Member of both the International Plein Air Painters Worldwide Organization and the New York Plein Air Painters; and she recently founded the Mohawk Region Chapter of New York Plein Air Painters. In her early art career, Marilyn was a graphic artist for the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Her color illustrations are published in a textbook written by C. Lavett Smith, Curator of the American Museum of Natural History, New York City, and published by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
