About this artist

Suzanne Clifford-Clark Born in Illinois, Suzanne Clifford-Clark grew up living around the world in such places as the Caribbean and South America. She spent her teenage years in Sydney, Australia where she briefly attended the Julian Ashton School of Art. The school’s emphasis on the 19th Century Atelier system of study has been a lifelong influence. She later studied with artist James Prohl, a Classical Realist painter, from whom she learned the craft of drawing and painting. Suzanne’s luminescent landscape and seascape paintings are achieved using a painstaking layering process which help to create a soft atmospheric feel. Suzanne says her paintings “are more about ideas, moods, and feelings than they are about places to which they might bear resemblance.” The sky is her primary source of inspiration because it is the most expressive subject to convey specific feelings. Land and sea-scape elements are added mainly as a point of reference in her artwork. Throughout her career, she has been featured in numerous group shows with organizations such as Wisconsin Women in the Arts. She participated in their Biennial traveling exhibition which toured art and cultural centers across the Midwest. Other artists you may like: Will Klemm Mary Nolan Anne Garton
