Robert Bateman is one of the most well known wildlife artists in the world. Growing up in Canada, he was always interested in art and nature. At the age of 27, he travelled through Africa, Australia, and India for over a year making sketches of his observations. He eventually came home and began painting, becoming an high school art teacher. Bateman’s artwork started to become well known and he began to have shows of his paintings even going as far as The Smithsonian. The realistic way in which he paints the animals as well as the surrounding landscape is astounding. Here, a pack of wolves is scouting the edge of a frozen lake just before dusk.
