About this artist

Jeanette Staley is known for her still life and landscape paintings, which introduce elements of abstraction into her foundations of realism. She often incorporates a variety of found objects into her work, including but not limited to old books and photographs, newspaper scraps, and handwritten text inspired by the literary works of Algheri Dante, Omar Khayyam, James Joyce, and others. Jeanette was born in 1963 in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Framingham State University. She was working in social services, going to school and raising her children when she decided to devote herself to her art full time. In addition to painting, she opened the Center for Artistic Expression in her hometown. The Center holds classes and exhibitions as well as sponsors a summer camp for children. Jeanette started with a studio in Hudson, MA through the 90's and relocated to Westiminster, VT in 2001.
