About this artist

From northeast Massachusetts, Hillary Scott is an oil painter with her BFA from UMass Lowell (2002). Primarily studying illustration under the direction of the late Brenda Atwood Pinardi, Scott spent many years creating figurative oil paintings and working as an illustrator. Her first children's book titled "The Good Guy Lullaby" was published in April 2014. Scott practices plein air landscape painting. Fascinated by the effects of light on objects, people, and particularly water, she finds inspiration in the beautiful New England landscape, marshes, seas, and skies. Her landscapes attempt to capture light, mood, and atmosphere. Since exhibiting her oil paintings, she has been accepted into numerous juried shows and won several awards. She is a member of the Newburyport Art Association and Oil Painters of America.
