A nationally known artist, Janet Richardson-Baughman earned her BFA from central Michigan University and received an MFA in ceramics from Indiana State University in 1977. After teaching art classes in college for a period, she opened a studio and expanded her media to include encaustic, pastels, mixed media, collage and oil painting. Jan's figurative artwork has a richness of color and texture that is influenced by her experience with ceramics, while her more abstract paintings emanate from her love of architectural lines and shapes. Her still-life paintings have a whimsical feel with primitive shapes that come together to achieve a contemporary style. Janet's artwork has been shown in galleries throughout the US, and she is in many private and corporate collections.
