About the Artist

Raffandre was born in 1945 in Venice. His French born father was a great influence on him in the arts, urging him to pursue further study. He eventually attended the Acadamy of Fine Arts. It was in Venice, the “city of art”, that he first underwent a rigorous tutelage with several famous and accomplished painters. His particular aptitude for painting allowed him to learn quickly as studied drawing watercolor before progressing solely to oil painting. He then moved to Paris where he was able to study the Impressionists which he greatly admired. He later returned to Italy full of energy and new ideas. Turning from Still-lifes to landscapes, he enjoys painting the rolling hills and fields of Tuscany. His rich palette and loose stroke capture the warmth and beauty of the landscape throughout several provinces of the region. Throughout his career, he has taken part in several group exhibitions of interest in Paris, Milan, Rome, Firenze, and Venice where he won praise from both the critics and the public alike. More recently he has begun to show his work in the US including Boston, Dallas, and Denver, where his canvases are being met with enthusiasm and excitement.
