About this artist

Carol O'Malia Paintings Price Range: $1,200-$17,000

A native of Massachusetts, Carol O'Malia has added to to her range of subject-matter over the past several years and has evolved into a brilliant and versatile painter. Although she still creates her stunning "snowscapes", she has begun working on other series of work, including her "pillow" series and her figurative paintings. The common theme in all her artwork is the attention paid to details of light and shadow. O'Malia has her focus on the beauty of light, shadow and volume of forms. Her landscapes show the wispy shadows of trees, an unusual subject that has an incredibly beautiful effect. Her focus on the way branches effect light on the smooth surface of snow is mesmerizing and unexpected. O'Malia's pillow series introduces drama to something ordinary. The dark lighting emphasizes the folds and volume of the pillows and sheets. Like the snowscapes, the emphasis on shadows creates intricate abstractions on top of highly realistic paintings. Carol's paintings have caught attention of both private and corporate collectors as well as museums including The Duxbury Museum, Fitchburg Art Museum, and the American Textiles History Museum. We have an excellent selection of her paintings for sale.
