With her unique style and her attention to light, weather, and time of day, she is able to convey a mood of serenity and solace while simultaneously capturing the beauty of Cape Cod. Mary Nolan was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and was raised in the New England area. In 1974, she graduated from Vesper George School of Art in Boston. In 1992 Nolan returned to school to further pursue her formal education. She received a BA in Fine Art and Psychology from Emmanuel College, Boston, and a Masters Degree in Art Therapy from Vermont College of Norwich University in Montpelier, Vermont. Today Nolan lives and maintains a studio in Cooperstown, NY. She paints local and regional landscapes, teaches Plein Air painting and facilitates Art Therapy workshops.
