A member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists, Lauren Mehrberg received her BA degree in Studio Art and Art History at Smith College in 1986. After graduating, she completed programs in Gemology, Jewelry Manufacturing Arts, and Jewelry Design. She later worked in the GIA Diamond Grading Labaratory and worked as a custom jewelry designer.
Today, Lauren uses a variety of materials, including stained glass, 24k mosaic gold, Murano millefiori, Italian smalti, vintage jewelry and buttons, rhinestones, beads, and many other found treasures. Lauren relies on her past training and deep knowledge of materials to create these stunning, detailed compositions.
Her mixed media designs invite the viewer in with their vibrant colors and variations in texture and depth. With her background in jewelry and gemology, she thinks of her creations as gems for the wall. There is no substitute for seeing these incredible works in person.
