George Marks Biography

George Marks Jr. is a New England painter well known for his impressionistic landscapes. Largely self-taught and influenced by early New England impressionism, he works primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas. His paintings depict a variety of local and familiar New England scenes. As an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman, he finds a special inspiration in the rivers, ponds and wetlands of his native New England. He maintains a personal connection to the nature of the landscapes around him, which he says offers an infinite variety of challenges for an impressionistic landscape painter like himself.
