Don Scott Macdonald is a San Francisco artist who exhibits all over California and the US, painting soft, contemporary oil on canvas landscapes of clouds in grays, rust, greens — in an ethereal pastel-like style.
San Francisco artist, Don Scott Macdonald exhibits extensively throughout California. Macdonald hopes to convey through his ethereal landscape paintings a balance of mystery and beauty, darkness and hope. His works have a pastel-like style in sage green, stormy gray, cloud whites, and a rust, orange, and red palette to warm up the composition. He composes his work from an accumulation of observations and dreams. Rather than recreating details of a static landscape on canvas, he attempts to distill its essence, believing that simplicity is elegant and powerful in our increasingly complex and distracting world. He aims to create spaciousness extending beyond the canvas in billowing clouds, blurred horizons, sweeping trees, and dewy sunsets.
