About the Artist

Pierre LaTour was born in the South of France in 1935. His father, also an artist, taught him how to paint as a child. LaTour’s instruction was fundamental to his artistic development, and his early style reflects his father’s traditional, academic style. As he grew, he developed his own style that began to differ from his father’s, but retained the basic principles of traditional oil painting. He went on to further studies in Paris, where he experimented with a palette-knife technique. LaTour’s impressionist paintings are best known for the beautiful colors he chooses. Whether he creates a flower market, a city scene, or a barge on a river, LaTour has the ability to bring serenity to his paintings. His unique style and subject matter has become recognizable throughout Europe, and his paintings are collected throughout Europe and the US.
