Artist Inoue Kozo was born in Japan and later studied and lived in France. He is known for his simplistic, yet sophisticated silkscreen prints. His work can be seen in prestigious museums most notably in Europe.
Inoue Kozo was born in Osaka, Japan in 1937 and graduated with a degree in the History of Western Art from Keio University in 1960. Afterward, he went to France to study at Académie de la Grande Chaumière and consequently split his time between Japan and France. He is known for his simplistic, yet sophisticated silkscreen prints that portray a singular subject (such as fruits, flowers and butterflies) with a gradient of colors in the background. Because of his seemingly simple designs, his serigraphs evoke a sense of tranquility.
His work has been displayed all over the world, most notably in Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, the Royal Library of Belgium, National Museum of Art of Osaka, and Spencer Museum of Art. He passed away in 2017.
