About this artist

Born in 1956 in Erie, Pennsylvania, Sue Foell is an artist most known for her portrait painting. Foell grew up in near Lake Erie, spending a great deal of her childhood outdoors with her six siblings. It was her father that offered Foell her first exposure to art at an early age. She worked as a graphic artist for 14 years after college and practiced art forms like pottery and photography before picking up a paintbrush in 2002 and falling in love with that medium. While portraits are her main focus of painting, Foell has also painted still life and landscape works. As well as continuing to hone her own skills, Foell also teaches painting. Foell has received numerous awards at various local and national shows over the years, including the Salon International Juried Exhibitions, the Oil Painters of America’s National Juried Exhibitions, and the Oil Painters of America’s Eastern Regional Exhibitions.
