Originally from New Orleans, Carolyn lives in Massachusetts and paints alongside her artist husband, John Evans. Evans earned her BFA from Boston University in 1970. Evans’ paintings often depict houses with colorful, rich surroundings and sometimes with anthropomorphic elements, such as lips or legs. There is a light, playful feeling within each of Evans’ paintings that invites the viewer in.
Many of the scenarios in Evans’ work have to do with her life in New Orleans. When she painted a series of work in response to Hurricane Katrina, Carolyn was honored with a solo show at the Danforth Museum of Art in Framingham, Massachussetts in 2008. Entitled “Katrina’s Third Birthday, No Cake,” the show included paintings that expressed the artist’s sorrow at the loss of her family home in Metairie, Louisiana. Since then, Evans has had solo exhibitions in Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts and most recently New Orleans.
Evans is currently represented by several galleries in the U.S., as well as in the collections of the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and in many corporate and private collections.
