Born in Italy in 1943, Nidia D’Alessandro was the daughter of an Italian diplomat. She was surrounded by boats in the seaside town where she lived, and it was there that her interests and her talent of painting boats began to grow. She studied art in Rome and when her father became consul in Brazil, she continued her education there. She has exhibited her paintings throughout the United States since 1967, with great success, and her work is also well known in parts of Europe and Latin America
