Born in 1964 in the scenic port town of Vlore, Albania, modern artist Josef Kote emerged eager to share his unique vision with the world. The atmosphere around him - a mélange of commercial industry and old world charm - constantly inspired the young visionary. At the age of 14, Kote was accepted into The National Lyceum of Arts in Tirana, and later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Tirana. Relocations to Toronto and New York taught Kote the culture and language of a place completely foreign to him, and helped him evolve artistically. Kote's painting origins in the Mediterranean have never truly left him; the warmth of the Grecian sunlight and the lush Mediterranean landscape are still infused in his works. Large, loose brushstrokes and gentle colors are characteristic of Kote's welcoming seascapes. |
